Technology at the service of races: focus on Tracking

Story

7 January 2021

After each race of the Prix d’Amerique Races ZEturf competition, we offer you an analysis of the results by tracking. How does this technology work? What is his story ?

Tracking allows above all to analyze to the millimeter and to study very precisely the performance of horses after each so-called “tracked” event, which therefore benefits from the technology. The process saw the light of day on Sunday January 28, 2018, and the first showdown involved was the Grand Prix d’Amérique. This innovation represents a real revolution and a real breakthrough for the equestrian institution. Its precision and reliability provide professionals (coaches, drivers) and passionate riders with essential information. The discipline of Trotting paved the way, galloping followed in October 2019.

The operation of Tracking is based on a sensor system (our photo, white device above the race plate) placed on each starting horse. Racetracks are also equipped with a capture solution; an antenna. The antenna and the sensors communicate via two separate radio frequency channels. The overall system enables the following data to be collected in competition: distance in meters from the first, reduction in kilometers and intermediate classifications (at 2,000, 1,500, 1,000 and 500 meters from the finish), and reduction in kilometers the last 1,000 and 500 meters covered. This valuable information for betting and understanding the confrontations is permanently available on the letrot.com site, in the races, calendar / results section. Our videos summarize the performances achieved in the Prix d’Amerique Races ZEturf competition.
