If Bold Eagle were to win the Grand Prix d’Amérique 2018, he would be the fifth champion in history to become triple winner of the event. Joining trotters registered in the Legend is also, for the champion on appeal, one of the major issues of this Grand Prix d’Amérique 2018.

In addition to the victory, obviously crucial, it will be for Bold Eagle one of the major stakes in the Final EpiqE Series 2018: try to join four legendary trotters in the list of triple winners.

Two mares and two males appear in the pantheon of these three laureates of the Prix d’Amérique: Uranie , in the years before the war, Roquépine , in the 60s, Bellino II , in the 1970s, and Ourasi , the one and only quadruple winner, whose ultimate success goes back 30 years.

Uranie:

Nicknamed the Flying Chestnut for its aerial but shady and temperamental, Urania flew however its time, becoming the first star of the French Trot, attracting by its mere presence tens of thousands of spectators. Capable of sometimes rowing up to 125 meters to her rivals, she won the 1926, 1927 and 1928 American Prizes, finishing 2nd again in 1930, the year she turned 10 when she retired from the competition.

Roquépine:

40 years after Urania , a fantastic mare dominated her undivided era. With a great power and an exceptional footwork, Roquépine made Henri Levesque’s colors shine on all the tracks of the world, including USA where she was elected best mare of age, a feat for a Frenchwoman. She won the Prix d’Amérique 1966, 1967 and 1968, giving her driver Jean-René Gougeon the first of his 8 victories in the event, before becoming the mother of Florestan and of Granite , stallions who then brilliantly passed on his class out of the ordinary.

Bellino II:

This extraordinary horse born in Savoy, nicknamed the Compressor Roller for the way he crushed his opponents, has a unique track record in both harness and mounted disciplines. In addition to all the groups I under the saddle and most of its harnessed counterparts, Bellino II shone the coat of its breeder owner Maurice Macheret by winning the 1975, 1976 and 1977 American Prizes, becoming an absolute star, invited even on the set of the newspaper of 13h TF1.

Ourasi:

The integral icon of the French Trot whose statue sits at Vincennes Hippodrome de Paris, its garden. Early, Ourasi emerged in the Critérium des Jeunes, then in the 5 years old before running until the age of 10 years. Nonchalant, almost lazy hence his nickname “King Slacker”, he knew what he had to do in a course, telling his famous driver Jean-Rene Gougeon: “ I did not think intelligent horses. Ourasi made me change my mind. “The phenomenon won 3 consecutive American Awards in 1986, 1987 and 1988, ranking 3rd in 1989 because it was urinating before the race, then resumed his scepter in 1990 to become the only trotter 4 times winner of the Prix d’Amérique.

Fun fact: the years 6, 7 and 8 are very favorable for triplets since Uranie, Roquépine and Ourasi have become essential during these years. there, Bellino II , reached by the age limit, not having the right to run in 1978. A favorable sign for Bold Eagle ? …
Also note that all these triplets have been made as a result.
